Study Weeks
Study Weeks
A core element of the elite graduate programme is the study week, which takes place once a year in late summer. During this week, a group of about 30 students enrolled in the programme travels together to a conference center where lectures and projects on a scientific topic related to physics are offered. These topics are usually not covered in the curriculum of both universities and therefore the study weeks provide an ideal framework to discuss interdisciplinary and current research directions that go beyond the research fields present at the University of Regensburg and the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. The yearly topic is chosen by the students and lectures and projects are held by invited international experts. In recent years, the study week mainly took place in Tramin (South Tyrol) bringing the advantage that next to the scientific programme also one major and several smaller hiking tours were on the agenda.
