Workshop 2016 on Gravitational Waves
Workshop on gravitational waves
About 100 years after Albert Einstein’s predictions of gravitational waves within his theory of General Relativity, these waves have finally been measured directly for the first time in September 2015. To account for this breakthrough experiment and the theory behind gravitational waves, we host a workshop on gravitational waves, starting from the theoretical basics and moving towards the experimental applications.
The workshop consists of three lectures about theory and experiment, as well as of tutorials and discussion rounds in the lecture hall and afterwards during barbecue. In particular students from younger semesters are encouraged to apply to get an introduction to gravitational waves and to follow the current discussions and trends in research.
